Faikin P1P2 — Frequently Asked Questions
The Faikin P1P2 — FAQ
What is the Faikin P1P2 and who is it for?
It is a small module that gives you local control of Daikin systems that connect over the P1/P2 control bus — VRV/VRF, Sky Air, and ducted and cassette systems run from a wired wall controller (such as a BRC1E). These are the systems the standard Faikin Faikout cannot reach. It also suits Mitsubishi Heavy Industries systems (X-Y bus) via the MHI version. If you have a normal wall-mounted split, the Faikin Faikout is the right product instead.
Do I need the module, the cable, or the kit?
- Module only (A$135) — if you want to make your own two-wire connection to P1/P2.
- Cable (A$25) — a ready-made lead if you already have a module.
- Module and cable kit (A$149) — everything together, at a saving.
Blade or Forked — which cable?
The module taps onto the P1/P2 bus, which runs between the indoor unit and the wired wall controller, so you can connect it at whichever point is easier to reach. Both give identical control.
- Blade (indoor unit) — flat blade terminals for the P1/P2 terminals on the indoor unit's control board.
- Forked (wall controller) — fork terminals for the screw terminals behind a wired wall controller. Often easier on ducted and cassette systems where the indoor unit is hard to reach.
Not sure? Send us your indoor model and wall controller and we will point you to the right one.
What smart-home apps does it work with?
It works with the major smart-home apps — Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Aqara and Home Assistant — with no bridge or hub and no cloud account. Home Assistant and Node-RED are also supported directly over MQTT, and there is a local web interface.
Do you set it up for me, or do I do it myself?
Your choice, and it is set per module:
- Set it up myself (no charge) — the module arrives ready for the local web interface, MQTT and Home Assistant.
- Apple Home setup (A$12.50) — we flash and provision it for native Apple Home before dispatch.
- Multi-platform setup (A$12.50) — we provision it so you can add it to Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Aqara and other major apps; you finish setup by scanning a code in the app of your choice.
There is no licensing fee on the setup options — the A$12.50 simply covers our time to flash and provision the module for you. Each module is set up for one option.
Do I need a hub or bridge?
No bridge or hub is needed for local control. Some apps use a home hub for remote access and automations (for example an Apple hub such as a HomePod or Apple TV), the same as any other accessory.
How does it install?
It connects to the two P1 and P2 terminals, at the indoor unit or the wired wall controller, and is powered from the unit (12–16V DC, under 1W). The P1/P2 bus is low voltage, but always isolate the system at the breaker before opening anything. If you are not comfortable working inside the unit or controller, use a qualified installer. A step-by-step guide is provided.
Will my existing wall controller still work?
Yes. The module sits on the P1/P2 bus alongside your existing wired wall controller — it works with your remote, it does not replace it.
What are the returns and warranty terms?
No-risk returns apply if it does not work in your setup.
How do I check my model is compatible?
Compatibility is confirmed per indoor model. Send us your model number and controller and we will check, or use the compatibility and cable-selection database on our site.
